So today I didn't do much. Got up kind of early and got out for a run. YAY! It was probably between four and five miles. No watch today since I get super self-conscious about how fast I am going rather than just running it out. I wore shorts since it was a little warm out, but my shorts have a seam on the back of my legs, and one of the legs rubbed really bad...ouch. Guess I need some body glide or something. It was also a good reason to get some more shorts. Can't wait to wear those tomorrow. They are the loose, floppy kind but they are pretty short, so I think that they are floppy enough that they won't ride up or chafe in any other way. For some this may have been TMI, but for runners, no big deal, right?
Jake and I ate this salad and a tuna burger for lunch after my run. Somehow Jake didn't finish...not sure what that's about. He was seriously talking about going into a food coma...from a SALAD and a sandwich. What is that about? I was eating his after he couldn't eat more, seeing as I ran a few miles, I figured I was allowed.
This is the book I am reading now. I think it's non-fiction, but it's written kind of novel-ly too, so I am enjoying it. Maybe it's because it's like an interesting history book with medical stuff (which I love).
This is what Carl does when he wants to sit on my lap, but the computer is on it....what a butthead. He sat here for like 10 minutes. I even tried to free up space on my lap, but he wouldn't have any of it. See how's he's staring at me like, "you want your computer on your lap, then you will have your computer on your lap."
Just got home from work, and hopefully I am off tomorrow....I need some rest, and more time to run!
After sleeping horribly for the last 5 hrs or so of the night, I got up later than I wanted because I had to take some benadryl to make my nose stop running and to stop sneezing. Unlike most people, benadryl actually doesn't put me to sleep, so I had a hard time getting back to sleep after taking it. It makes my heart beat really fast, but that's about it. So, of course when I woke up, I was SUPER groggy.
Then all I did today was work from noon-8:30. Then I came home and made some quinoa and black beans for dinner. Not very exciting, so no pictures today....oh well.
Temporary Bellingham what? Bellingham is definitely not temporary for us :)
Actually this building used to be the Temporary Bellingham Food Bank while the original building was under construction. We drove by it, and I thought it was so funny.
We drove by it on our way to Boundary for lunch...yum. Aside from Pho, this is our fallback lunch spot since it's so casual and easy, and they have the best beer in Bellingham. Yum!
I think today they were brewing something or maybe it was just the hop plants on the fence, but all I could smell was hops when we parked the car. I just had a thought that when we tear out the ivy on our back fence, we should replace it with hops...hmmm....
And it was sunny and warm today, so we let the cat out for the first long day outside since the incident. He seemed to be too warm too, and just laid in the shade. It was pretty funny to see him wander all over the yard chasing the shady spots and then laying in them. No sign of the evil gray cat, but at every sound he would turn around quickly and look toward the neighbors' house or the deck where the gray cat tends to hide....haven't seen it in a few days, so that's good. Maybe Carl can have his yard back.
Aside from going out and running dumb errands leftover from yesterday, I did chores today too. Laundry, vaccum, sweeping, cleaning. I am just about to head upstairs and fold clothes and start unpacking the "reading room." Woo hoo. Maybe I can get a Goodwill run in today. I also want to get a run in, but it's going to have to wait since it's pretty warm out still.
Damn. No pictures today....frown.
Guess we knew it was coming after the pictures of Carl yesterday. Oh well.
We even got out of the house today before work, but it was just to run annoying errands that I would rather forget because businesses in town can't do their billing correctly, and apparently I need to pay for it. Lame.
Then I worked tonight from 2-11 and came home. Really nothing interesting today. Not even a run since Jake and I have just been enjoying lounging on our couch and sometimes it is really hard to leave him on the couch alone--seriously. I know it sounds silly, but I have to get every minute I can with him on the couch before we each head to work. It's especially hard to leave him there lately since we've had some heavy stuff going on....
What a handsome kitty!!!!!

So yeah, whenever I don't have anything to take pictures of, I take pictures of the cat....he's so cute!
It was rainy today, and I had a good run in the rain at the track today, so that was cool. Wish I didn't have to rush the run, but that's okay. Hopefully tomorrow it will rain better, and I can have a longer run. Speaking of running in the rain, there are 2 blogs that I read and the authors both mentioned that they don't (or used to not) run in the rain. Guess you can say no to that when you live in Texas or Florida since it only rains like once a year....weird to think that you can opt out of doing anything in the rain :)
Another thing that is weird to me is people who have no regard for safety either on bikes or running. On bikes--no helmets, no lights, riding in the road at night. How can you do that? Jake doesn't wear a helmet and it kills me...he did say he will wear one when we have kids, but seriously how can you not? Also when running, anyone who runs not on a treadmill or a track should not have headphones in! Ugh. It really bugs me.
Watching Biggest Loser now (recorded it)....I love this show, even though it is totally ridiculous....LOVE IT.
We're also probably watching Top Chef tonight...I am hooked on reality TV! I think it's the only thing that I always DVR....pretty sad, I guess....oh well.
This weekend (well, Sunday, but our weekend) we packed up for Seattle to spend some time with Jake's family. It was, umm...good. Good as it could be, I guess. This picture was taken on the freeway at 65 mph. Why is it that my camera can't handle people moving the slightest bit but it can get a good picture out of the window of a moving vehicle? Seriously, my camera takes some pretty bad pictures sometimes, but the ones out the car window are not so bad....wtf?
This is Jake's mom's fish. He's pretty cool. I wish we could have a fish, but Carl is way too naughty for us to have a fish. He would eat it in one minute.

This is Jake's first thing in the morning face:
This is Jake's breakfast--baklava from the QFC bakery of which he didn't eat the whole thing. I didn't try it because I had just brushed my teeth before he started it...apparently it wasn't that good.
Later on, we went to the bookstore and got coffee and pastries...yum! I really miss 3rd Place Books/HoneyBear Bakery....we don't have anything like that here in Bham. We have good coffee places, good hangout places, and good pastry OR sandwich places; but nothing where you can find all in one place :(. I probably would have gotten a lot more productive studying done in college if we had Third Place Books up here. And I can wander around for hours at Third Place...Village Books is just too darn small, as much as I love them.

It's kind of fun acting like a tourist in Seattle, even though I grew up there.
I started this book at the hospital today because I had left my other book (The Omnivore's Dilemma...not done yet!) at the house. Good thing we went to the bookstore.
This is my first "running book" so that's cool! I want more, but can never remember the authors' names when I am at the bookstore, so I don't get them and then I feel bad. I need to make a list and shop from that, but it's more fun to just wander at the bookstore and see who speaks to me. Right now J and I are pretty stocked up on books for a while, so I better get upstairs and clean some out and get rid of books we don't like/read anymore. And I need a bigger bookshelf considering all the books we have :) Maybe 3 bookshelves--one upstairs, one in the office, and one in the living room/dining room.
I saw this house near the Lake City exit on the freeway heading back north from downtown. I was pretty excited to see some Bette art...Jake said it had been there forever, but really, how long can that be? I had never seen it before. It was pretty hard to get a good picture, maybe next time I will be zoomed better.
No trip to Seattle is complete without a Dick's deluxe and a chocolate shake...well, the last few trips were complete without, but that said, that meant that we had to get down there this time. In high school, we ate there for lunch at least once a week since we had an open campus...it was great! That's another thing that we seriously lack in Belllingham--good, cheap, quick burgers!
Having this blog has been good for my photo-ing and I also update my running blog more often because of it....since I'm on blogger anyway, right?
